Christmas Stocking
By T. Inwood
Here is a simple idea for a Christmas Card
that looks good but takes little time and effort.
The toys can be tailored to suit the age and taste
of the recipient to make it a little more personal.
Materials Required:
Red felt - 16 cm x 10 cm.
Green embroidery thread.
Gold or silver crochet thread.
Sequin or other decoration.
Scrap of polyester wadding.
1/2 Red pipe cleaner.
1/2 White pipe cleaner.
Small green bow.
Scraps from old Christmas cards.
P.V.A. Craft adhesive.
Card mount - SF03U.
To Make The Card:
Cut out 2 stocking shapes from the red felt
using the actual size pattern. Stitch the two
pieces together with the green thread, using
running stitches approx 3mm in length. Leave
the top of the stocking open. Interweave the
running stitch with the gold or silver thread to
make a pattern around the stocking. Cut the
wadding 1.5cm deep and approximately
1.5cm wider than the top of the stocking.
Glue this into place. Glue the decoration
into place. Using the glue sparingly around
the edge only, stick the completed stocking
to the front of the card ensuring the top is
open.
Cut out and glue the toy scraps and mes-
sage into the top of the stocking. Twist the
pipe cleaners together and bend into the
candy stick shape. Tuck this into the
stocking opening glueing it into
place. Glue the ribbon bow to
the wadding strip.
Actual size template
to put into the top of
the stocking; write your
own personalised label to
the recipient; actually insert
a small gift or money into the
stocking - anything!
This idea is very versatile,
you could use other types of
fabric to make the stocking;
interchange the wadding for fun
fur or felt; make little present boxes
